Meet some of the horses we are caring for now.

Foxxy

1996 dark bay Morab mare

RETIRE

My Story

My BFFs call me Foxxy Girl.  I’ve been described as sweet and sassy.   I used to work as a school horse, and I’m told I was quite talented.  But then I went blind in one eye and had to give it up.  I still serve as the ranch ‘watch-horse’ and alarm clock — whenever a vehicle drives up, especially a trailer with a new horse, I will announce it.  I’ll also give you a friendly reminder if you haven’t fed us yet.

My “Pleasant Valley”

I’ve been at the Ranch at French Corral since 2005.  A couple of times I went off to live somewhere else, but it no one appreciated my true awesomenness, so I came back.  To be honest, I am the Queen here.

What I Could Use

I wouldn’t describe myself as high maintenance, but I do have a gorgeous, long mane & tail just begging to be brushed and groomed.  I am healthy and well-fed, though treats are always appreciated. Most of all, I miss being pampered.

Jax

1993 gray Thoroughbred gelding

REHOME, RETIRE

My Story

I ran a couple of races, but not fast enough, I guess.  Then I did some eventing, then I was a school master.  Now I’m enjoying a well-deserved retirement.  I’m the Will Rogers of horses — I never met a person or another horse I didn’t like!  I’m a real sweetheart, very touchy-feely, and the perfect gentleman.

My “Pleasant Valley”

I’d make a great companion to other retired horses, and would appreciate a caring home.  But I’m also quite content to stay here with my friends at the ranch, where I’ve lived for several years now.

What I Could Use

I’m on a special diet to keep my weight up.  A new blanket would keep me warm this Winter.

Buster

2006 bay Quarter Horse/Mustang gelding

REHOME, RETIRE

My Story

I came to PVHF after years of neglect.  I’m very friendly and get along with all the other horses.  If you’re a person, I’ll be very respectful and follow you around like a puppy.  That climbing on top for a ride thing, though — not for me, thanks!  I’m an easy keeper and hardly ever need my hooves trimmed.

My “Pleasant Valley”

I’m very happy at the ranch, but I’d love to find a new home where I can keep another horse or two company.

What I Could Use

I seem to keep misplacing my fly mask.  Scratches and brushing are always appreciated.

Squirt

1983 chestnut Quarter Horse mare

REHOME, RETIRE

My Story

I spent most of my life as a pleasure horse and was well cared for.  For a couple of years I was an outstanding schoolmaster, then I retired at age 29.  I tend to keep to myself but get along fine with other horses.  I really enjoy my daily grain and it helps me keep on my weight.

My “Pleasant Valley”

As I mentioned, I am retired.  I love the big, grassy pastures at the ranch, but would consider relocating to a comfy home with another senior horse or two.

What I Could Use

There’s couple of spots I can’t reach and if you scratched me there, I’d be in heaven.  I do love my grain, and wouldn’t say no to some carrots.
